(Posted by: DogsRule on 2007-06-05 17:59:30)

Ok, I have a SUPER old NEC computer and about a year ago I took widows 98 off of it and was going to put widows XP on it. My computer has no operating system on it. I put the windows xp disk into the brand new drive and it comes up but then the computer just restarts and wont stop. But once i got the windows XP to create a partation and then it restarted after it was done and it saide error NTLDR MISSING. I need serious help.

Reinstall, it can 't boot if it can 't find NTLDR xp would probly run slow on the machine if it was designed for 98 anyway, you shoyuld go for windows NT/ 2000 at the highest end OS, XP will run like crap

Your comp probably can 't handle it because i know 95 can 't but im no 't shure about 98 if it can 't it will either crash or keep screwing up thats what i learned from my dadhr 's a comp programer

XP isn 't a good OS for vintage PCs. Even if you do get it running it most likely will be very slow. I have several older machines ranging from Windows 98 to 95 and XP on my new ones. The other problem you might have is running software. If yo really want to use XP, invest a little money into a newer PC that has it already installed. Check out eBay for newer used equipment or your local paper.
